Huge
price uplift of a recently auctioned MGBGTV8
Keith Belcher has spotted an example of "large price Inflation"
- an original chrome bumper MGBGTV8 purchased a few days ago at Anglia
Car Auctions for £21,870 (including the buyer's premium) is
now offered by a trader and listed at £28,995! That's a price
uplift for £7,125 or 32.6%! The trader mentions it is "now
fully recommissioned" which would have been necessary outlay
as the car had been in a lay-up for 18 years.

Listing on the Anglia Car Auction website
"This Damask Red MGBGTV8 with Navy Blue interior has been
registered to its last owner since 1978 and is described by
the vendor as in lovely condition throughout. It has been restored,
although it is unclear when this took place. It was registered
in December 1973 and is now showing 88,144 miles on its odometer.
As an historic vehicle, it is now MOT-exempt, its last MOT was
in August 2005 at 87,321 miles. Three registered keepers overall
are recorded. Accompanying the car is its current and past V5Cs
and V5s, MG Register production certificate, BL Passport to
Service and some photos. There's also some older invoices from
the 1970s - including ones from University Motors, one of the
better-known BL dealers - and MOT certificates from 1979, 1995,
1997, 2001 to 2003 and 2005." Link

MGBGTV8 (Damask 0503)
South Norfolk Classics website
"Just arrived at South Norfolk Classics. a 1973 MGBGTV8
direct from long term ownership (45 years with last owner).
Matching numbers, car finished in its original factory colour
of Damask Red with Navy interior. It was restored a few years
ago to an exceptional standard and is still amazing today. The
paint finish is of the highest order, the engine bay is outstanding
and probably the best we have seen, the original navy interior,
carpets and headlining are unmarked, the sliding roof is fully
working and in perfect condition. The super smooth V8 sounds
superb and the overdrive functions correctly. Comes with a Heritage
certificate, current and old style V5 and registration documents,
original British Leyland Passport to Service book with stamped
history up until 46,075 miles and then there are various MOT
certificates dating back to 1979. The last MOT on file was from
2005 when it had covered a warranted 87,321 miles and now 18
years later it is showing 88,147 miles so has had virtually
no use in 18 years. Now fully recommissioned and ready
for its new owner. We will provide a new MOT upon sale. This
really is as good as they get ! Our asking price includes free
delivery within 200 miles from IP22 4EU."
