Platinum Jubilee flypast

The V8 Webmaster watched part of the flypast on Thursday 2nd June from the bank of the River Thames at Mortlake in Southwest London. With the warm sunshine refreshment was necessary so he popped into The Ship for a pint. The pub is opposite the finishing line of the annual Oxford & Cambridge Boat Race.

Memorable "70" flypast over The Mall today
As part of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations 15 Typhoon FGR4 aircraft flew by in a fitting "70" formation as Wave 13 of 14 in the flypast.

Five aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight flew over The Mall as Wave 5 - they were two Spitfires, two Hurricanes and the Lancaster. This wave turned off soon after passing Central London so sadly did not fly over The Ship. The flypast concluded with a formation of nine Hawk jets from the RAF Aerobatic Team (Red Arrows).
