Fire Safety Stick

Julian Holmes mentioned on the V8 Register Facebook Group that he had heard about Fire Safety Sticks a few months ago and thought they might be of interest - they look really simple and effective! Ideal for a classic car, especially one that's pumping enough fuel for a V8 engine! He says "unless someone can point out a severe drawback, I'm getting one for my MGBGTV8 - and no, I don't have any connection with the company - unfortunately!"

Fire risks with classic cars
With the possibility of fuel leaks with aeging fuel lines and an overflowing carburetor, a wiring loose connection or ageing sections of wiring loom prone to damage, classic cars are more prone to fires than modern vehicles. And of course our pride and joy cannot be easily replaced even with an insurance payout.

What are the key features of a Fire Safety Stick?
It leaves no mess and no residue from its use at all. Traditional powder and foam extinguishers often create more damage than the fire and leave such a mess that, regardless of the fire, your engine and bodywork could well be ruined as a result.

It has a longer discharge time compared with other extinguishers so you can approach a fire from a moderate distance progressively getting closer to its source. During the approach, move the stick slowly around the fire always directing towards the centre. This will contain the fire and allow the gas the ability to work. Two sticks - the FFS50 with 50 seconds and the other FFS 100 with 100 seconds discharge time.

As the gas in the Fire Safety Stick is heavier than air, it will fill all the voids not directly accessible by the discharge which will put out a fire and prevent a re-flash. Tight areas with lots of pockets (like the engine bay of a car) brings out the strengths of the stick.

It has a 15 year shelf life and no need for servicing or maintenance.
See the video demonstrating just how effective the Fire Safety Stick can be when dealing with a fire with classic cars and other cars, in fact all vehicles.
