Anyone seen an MGBGTV8 in "usable condition" for under £10,000?

Ralph Hardwick, a Pricewatch team member, spotted this feature article in the latest issue of Classic Car Weekly with their table of the "HOTTEST SUB-£10k BUYS". He was puzzled by their listing an "MGBGTV8 as a hot-sub-£10k buy" - but what do they mean?

Have you really seen an MGBGTV8 in a "usable condition
ready to use and enjoy and won't embarrass you on a showfield" for sale at £7,500 or £6,500 as CCW claim? If you have seen one then please let the V8 Webmaster know.

Classic Car Weekly say "there's a general belief you need to be minted to buy a classic car. Well, as you will find [in the next five pages of the feature article], such notions are complete twaddle. You don't need to spend in excess of a four-figure sum to have something interesting on your driveway". They add "all the cars listed can be bought with a budget of up to £10,000 . . . . cars which will be in what we deem to be a "usable condition". CCW say they are "cars that are ready to use and enjoy and won't embarrass you on a showfield".

CCW adds "a quick glance at the prices we've listed also confirms that many of the cars here can hopefully be bought in superior or potentially competition-winning concours condition for less than our £10k cut-off. You might be pleasantly surprised at just how affordable one of the classics you're currently hankering for is really worth!"

Did we see the term "complete twaddle" used above?

What are the condition classes used for our MGV8 price guides?

Condition 1
Generally excellent
No obvious areas where expenditure is required. The car is road legal, original or tastefully upgraded. As these cars are now over 45 years old most will have had some restoration to an authentic original specification or to a tastefully upgraded condition, both with documentary evidence. Service history commands higher prices. "Top-end" Condition 1 cars are generally close to "near concours" condition.
Condition 2
Sound but some areas may need cosmetic attention or refurbishment
Usable, presentable and road legal car which may have had an earlier restoration. Some minor mechanical work may be needed. Any rust present should not compromise the structure (for example serious corrosion in the cills), although there may be some areas of corrosion that will require attention, possibly with replacement panels.
Condition 3
Running but needing restoration
May or may not have a current MOT but will be in need of fairly major restoration work or a rebuild - body panels, cills, engine overhaul, interior refurbishment etc. Cars in this category are unlikely to be completely original, but most will not have any major items missing. They are not basket cases except cars at the bottom of this condition class.
