Ethanol
free petrol from Esso
Synergy Supreme+ 99 Unleaded
Their ethanol free petrol is Synergy Supreme+ 99 Unleaded. Legislation
requires Esso and other motor fuel suppliers to place E5 labels
on pumps that dispense unleaded petrol with up to 5% ethanol,
including those that contain no ethanol.
Ethanol in petrol has damaging effects on fuel supply parts and upgrades
are necessary not least with replacement ethanol resistant fuel hose.
But ethanol also is hydroscopic and when standing in a fuel tank during
an extended lay-up attracts moisture which can lead to corrosion.
Whether to have a petrol tank full or low during a lay-up has been
a topic discussed often but the good news is ethanol-free petrol
is available at Esso pumps but you need to look for their Synergy
Supreme+ with the red label - see alongside. Although legislation
requires Esso and other motor fuel suppliers to place E5 labels
on pumps that dispense unleaded petrol with up to 5% ethanol,
that includes fuel which includes fuels that contain no ethanol,
which is why Esso display "E5" on their Synergy Supreme+
99 pumps.
