The
latest issue of Classic Cars magazine out today has the MGBGTV8
owned by Keith Belcher on the front cover. His V8 was one of
several V8 tourers the magazine features in an extraordinary
19 page article with superb photographs of six classic
cars on roads and at locations in the Peak District. The article
reviews six "power cruiser buys from £5,000 to £120,000"
and at the end includes the telling comment - "the
MGBGTV8 is a real surprise. Forget the year it was made, it's
a thoroughly enjoyable Sixties sports tourer that won't break
the bank".
The article has a a number of memorable comments, many close
to photographs. For example "No wonder
the GT V8 provided such a hoot to MGB fans when new. Suddenly
they had themselves a big game hunter". Another
says "Throttle-blips of beefiness
elicit a recurring smile" and referring to the MGBGTV8's
dashboard it adds "Hardly quiet or
inspiring, but keen drivers will be kept active".
An engine bay photo has the comment "Mild
tune, big pleasure".
Similarly referring to the Aston Martin V8 the article has a
flourish that would put Jeremy Clarkson or Quentin Willson in
the shade! - "The Aston V8 is about
as tactful as Brian Blessed tonked up on Red Bull reading a
bedtime story on Jackanory"!
The article is a very good read and the photography is as good
as you will see. Why not pop out to your newsagent and get a
