Road closure of the Stromeferry Bypass alongside Loch Carron
Two of our Memorable MG Routes are popular with V8 enthusiasts when they tour the NW Highlands in Scotland. The two MMGRs take you from Dalwhinnie on the A9 to Kyle of Lochalsh and then on round the Wester Ross Trail using the A890 (Stromeferry Bypass) alongside Loch Carron. This NEWS item provides information on a road closure of the A890 planned for September 2018 and details of bypass arrangements. The alternative is a 137 mile detour via Inverness and your missing the wonderful route to Kyle.

Our Memorable MG Routes from Dalwhinnie on the A9 to Kyle of Lochalsh (MMGR07) and then on round the Wester Ross Trail (MMGR06) use the A890 (Stromeferry Bypass) alongside Loch Carron to get from near Dornie through to Achnasheen. A section of the road near Attadale on Loch Carron passes a section of rock face with frequent rack falls. Works to stabilise the rock face will involve the closure of the road from 3rd September 2018 until the planned completion of the works on 4th November 2018 but a "road to rail" bypass arrangement will be available.

MMGR07 - through the Northwest Highlands to Skye
A wonderful route over hills and along glens from the Drumochter Pass on the A9, through Dalwhinnie, Laggan Bridge, Spean Bridge and on to Invergarry. Then up the long hill up from Invergarry to a viewpoint with the reward of the long views over to the Rough Bounds of Knoydart. The route winds through the hills until you reach the spectacular mountains seen as you drive along the shores of Loch Cluanie and then down Glen Shiel and on to Skye. Two interesting diversions - into Glen Roy to see the Parallel Roads and visiting the brochs in Glen Beag plus an alternative route to Skye using the Glenelg ferry. (Mar 13)

MMGR06 - Wester Ross Trail
Driving around Wester Ross is an adventure on its own with many single track roads and breathtaking scenery with huge mountains. It's one of the most enjoyable routes in any car but particularly in a classic MG. (Dec 12)
