 | It's
50 years since the launch of the first Rover V8-engined British car in 1967 and
Classic Car Weekly celebrate the versatility of this powerplant and its enduring
legacy with an impressive feature article in tomorrow's issue. CCW arranged a
photoshoot with five classics powered by the V8 engine: a TVR Chimera, an MGBGTV8,
a Rover P5B Coupe, a Morgan Plus 8 and a Range Rover Vogue SE.
The V8
engine was seen as an ideal smooth and refined powerplant for luxury cars, but
it was soon discovered that its all-alloy construction meant it was incredibly
light weighing no more than a cast iron four-cylinder engine in fact. This and
its compact size meant it could also be used for all manner of bespoke sports
cars, from MG to Morgan to TVR.
The MGBGTV8 in the article was provided
by Keith Belcher seen alongside enjoying driving his V8 at the photoshoot.
Keith is one of our Pricewatch volunteers who actively spot adverts for MGV8s
for sale online and in print and also listed for auction. Their spots are posted
to our Pricewatch webpages providing
a useful guide to the MGV8s appearing for sale and current asking prices.
