Roger Williams

Sadly we have heard that Roger Williams, the author of many MG books including the authoritative "How to give your MGB V8 Power", has died from cancer. He will be missed for his authoritative books on MGB V8 conversions and for his business consultancy skills.

Roger Williams was born in 1940 in Cardiff, brought up in Guildford and attended Guildford Grammar School. As aircraft became his first love he joined the de Havilland Aircraft Company in 1957 as a production engineering apprentice. He soon added motor cars to his list of interests. During his apprenticeship he built two Ford-based specials and started a career in the manufacturing industry as a production engineer. Works managerial and director posts followed. Later Roger's business interests moved on to company doctoring which he enjoyed for ten years, specialising in turning round ailing engineering businesses. In 1986 he started his own consultancy business and renewed his interest in cars and writing books.
Roger had many MGBs, all of which he rebuilt over some seven years including his favourite, an MGB V8 Roadster. With two MGB books in print including "How to give your MGB V8 Power" -surely the most comprehensive and authoritative book on MGB V8 conversions - he was a respected author. A fourth edition of his V8 Power book was a substantially expanded book and a most useful read and reference too.
Roger was married and lived in Limousin in France. He was a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institution of Production (now Manufacturing) Engineers. (1940 - 2016)
