Rolls Royce Silver Shadow 10. TVR Chimaera The first V8-engined MGB was we believe one in Australia in 1967. The design staff at MG in Abingdon had seen the potential for a lightweight 3.5 litre V8 engine in the MGB after their earlier "big engine" MGC, but the internal politics and budget constraints within BL delayed the development and production of an MGBGTV8 at Abingdon. Eventually the BL management saw the light and it approved the development of the model on a limited budget for production. The MGBGTV8 was launched in August 1973. First MGB V8 in Australia in 1967.
