Contactless cards - no thanks!
An article in today's issue of the Daily Telegraph features fellow V8 member Howard Gosling who is is generally sceptical of most financial technology and resolutely opposed to contactless cards.
Howard has run an MGBGTV8 as his daily transport for many years - in fact a custom built MGBGTV8 LE. In fact it was rebuilt just the other year by Brown & Gammons so it could continue to provide enjoyable daily transport!

Katie Morley in today's Daily Telegraph uncovers a battle between the big banks and a breed of traditional savers who are rejecting modern technology as they prefer traditional banking methods such as cheque books and paying by cash. The article adds "some banks are changing the way accounts are operated – without giving customers a choice. It’s a case of get with the times - or go elsewhere. Barclays, for example, refuses to issue non-contactless cards to customers who don’t want the technology".

The article features V8 member Howard Gosling who "is generally sceptical of most financial technology. He is unapologetic about saying he does not want to change the way he banks. In common with an estimated 64pc of over-60s who don’t use online banking, his greatest fear is privacy and security. He has never had an online bank account and has no plans to get one. He is worried about
the risk of fraud and also fears he could accidentally send money to the wrong accounts. He said: “I have no faith in online banking. I would much prefer to go into a branch and talk to someone face-to-face.” Howard is resolutely opposed to contactless cards". Howard was a founding member of the V8 Register back in 1978, a former V8 Chairman and recently the Club's Vice Chairman. He regularly supports the Club's motor racing team at the race meetings around the country.
