report in the Times on Friday 27th November 2015 suggests the decision to end
the paper tax disc appears to have backfired after it emerged that the reforms
had led to a doubling in the number of unlicensed vehicles on Britain's roads!
The
loss to HM Treasury is £80 miilion through upaid raod tax in the past year,
eight times the expected savings from the reforms. The DVLA insisted that a big
chunk of the £80m would be recouped by persuing tax evaders.
Why
not get a "tax paid disc"
Yes
you can still get a disc from the V8 Register so you can pop it in the plastic
tax disc holder and have it as a visual reminder on your windscreen of when the
tax is due. A simple device which has stood the test of time. You can get one
