Alan Doyle's mentions in his short note on their Swiss holiday in the V8 during a Summer holiday in Switzerland the car ran faultlessly despite some traffic jams with outside air temperatures in the high 30s. Fuel consumption was around 30mpg and occasionally even less. Oddly enough, there is very little wind buffeting at 75mph with the roof wide open. In Switzerland 75 corresponds to their motorway limit and it is strictly enforced.

"The main purpose of our Swiss trip was to get our youngest daughter, Franziska, married off and she lives in Winterthur. She wanted the MG for her wedding car, so of course I obliged. The photo below is her driving her new husband off after the ceremony. I thought the white and green flowers were rather attractive with the damask bodywork".

"Whilst in Switzerland, we took part in one of Victor and Evelyne Rodrigues' regular Swiss MGV8/IG meetings. They really are quite a fine bunch of fellows. There seem to be more V8s in Switzerland than in Germany. All V8s were represented from chrome and rubber GTs to Japanese and British RV8s, as well as conversions - for example a Huntsman. Victor organized a memorable route for us around the hills outside Winterthur some of which was single track and great fun. I'm enclosing a scan of the route just to give you an idea but obviously, Victor has copyright! I hope he will send you some pictures of the event".

Reports on recent MGV8 events in Switzerland are on the Swiss MGV8/IG website and include the photo (left) of Victor Rodrigues with Allan and Eva Doyle in his extraordinary garage which is more like a classic car an enthusiast's club meeting room with a great deal of memorabilia and of course several MGs!
