Hook
Norton Brewery tour A
tour of this seven storey brewery is a wonderful experience - it has the feel
of a museum but one that is alive and productive making some of the finest real
ales. What sets this brewery apart is the way the beer is made - no automated
systems leap into action here. Instead someone will be there to climb the stairs
in order to rouse the beer by hand, using a paddle, 365 days of the year. The
tour followed the ten stage process as the brew rises and falls through the brewery
building. Website
Hook
Norton has shire horses and delivers supplies to its pubs in the vicinity of Hook
Norton. We heard that when they are off duty, the horses roam free in fields near
the brewery and are very well cared for. They often attend fairs and other events.

Lunch
at the Pear Tree Inn V8 members enjoyed their annual lunch at the Pear
Tree Inn located at the entrance to Brewery Lane at the lower end of Hook Norton
village. There is parking alongside a small green in front of the pub. The
tour and the lunch on Friday 19th June 2015 were arranged by Debbie Brading. 150622.
Pete Thomas says that when he was at the
lunch at the Pear Tree in Hook Norton on Friday 19th June he took two photos:
the first, is a pleasant scene with a V8 parked outside The Pear Tree and th second
is the brewery Drayman providing refreshments (1/2 pint of Hooky each)
for the horses." (Pete Thomas)
The
triangular green in front of the Pear Tree Inn provides plenty of convenient car
parking. 150626 (Roger
