Light, a former V8 enthusiast who was a Director of the MG Car Club and Chairman
of the South East Centre, sadly passed away in December 2014. Colin was heavily
involved in the Club during its difficult period of recovery in the 1980s along
with Piers Hubbard (then Club Treasurer), Ron Gammons (then Club Chairman) and
Victor Smith (then Vice Chairman). Many members from that era will remember Colin
as he was also the Ash Natter leader in Kent and was often seen in his MGA Coupe,
sometimes in his father's YA and then sometimes in his MGBGT V8. Colin was very
active within both the Main Club and the South East Centre and introduced several
events to the Club Calendar, some of which still exist, such as the Tour of the
South East.
Colin was also responsible for producing the brochure for Main
Club depicting the old MG Factory test routes and whilst preparing the material
for the brochure spent an enjoyable day with fellow V8 enthusiast Neville Mariner
who photographed the various sites around Abingdon with different cars. Mike Alison
was also there and many other Club members.
Many years ago now Colin dropped
out of the Car Club scene following the death of his mother and David Fox (a South
East Centre member) says "Colin had no family that we are aware of apart
from someone he mentioned in the Tunbridge Wells area, so the solicitors who are
dealing with his estate would be pleased to hear from anyone in the Club who can
remember him mentioning any family members so they might be traced. If you have
any information that could assist the solicitor please could you contact David
Fox in the first instance." davidfox55@yahoo.co.uk
