The Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs (FBHVC) exists to maintain the freedom of its members to use historic vehicles on the UK's roads, hence its campaign message: 'Yesterday's Vehicles on Tomorrow's Roads'. The FBHVC has over 530 member clubs representing over 255,000 individual owners including members of the MG Car Club.

In its latest press release the FBHVC says "politicians of every hue are struggling for space on the hustings to make their pre-emptive strikes in an election campaign which promises to be one of the most fiercely fought in recent times".
With this in mind it has produced its own Election Manifesto setting out what the FBHVC stands for all its member organisations.

Two highlights in the Manifesto call upon the political parties tthrough legislative powers to:
> Implement the EU Roadworthiness directive sympathetically to avoid the rigid requirements some Mainland European authorities seem to like.
> Extend the historic vehicle Excise Duty exemption to 30 years from the recently introduced and welcome 40 year rolling exemption.
