Clock in an MGBGTV8 dashboard ascia - is it a one off?

Tony Ridett from West Sussex has been in touch commenting "I recently attended the Classic Car show at the NEC and spoke to fellow members on on the MG Car Club stand about a feature on the fascia of my Factory MGBGTV8. I have been very intrigued concerning the facia design of my car as the dashboard dimmer rheostat and the clock are reversed compared to all other V8s I have seen, i.e. the dimmer is in the centre of the facia and the clock in front of the steering wheel, an arrangement I have not seen on any other car. I am attaching a photograph to indicate the arrangement, do you think this is a one off?"

Victor Smith responded "I am reasonably certain the clock in your fascia is a modification made by an owner of your car at some stage as I have never seen it as an original Factory feature. It does look useful I must say." Has any fellow member seen this modification before?
Alongside is the standard fascia seen on Factory MGBGTV8s with the knob for the dashboard lighting rheostat in the centre.
