Two events this Autumn have raised the profile of RV8s in Yorkshire and have left their owners wanting more. First up, on 28th September, was the 'Cars in the Park' event at Lotherton Hall, near Leeds. Dennis Hodge is the coordinator for RV8s at this event and he reports that this has become a regular venue for meetings of RV8 owners in Yorkshire. This time, 11 cars formed the biggest line up yet generating considerable interest - 6 Woodcote Green, 3 Oxford Blue and 2 Nightfire Red cars came from all corners of the county, and the sunny late summer weather was enjoyed by all. The location at Lotherton Hall is ideal with a café, pleasant grounds and lots of space for the cars. Plans are already being made for similar meetings next year beginning in May 2015.
A week later and with a repeat of the sunny weather, 13 RV8s gathered in Ripon, their owners fuelling themselves up at the Sun Parlour Café (above left) before setting out on a 90 mile tour of the Yorkshire Dales. The tour, organised by Stuart Mumby, took in the stunning scenery of remote Coverdale (top right) on the way to a lunch halt at the historic Falcon Inn at Arncliffe (above right). The afternoon section progressed through the market town of Settle and on via Burnsall, Pateley Bridge and Nidderdale to the final destination of Masham. Here, the participants tucked in to hearty fayre at the King's Head Hotel overlooking the ancient Market Place. All of the crews declared the day a resounding success and made it clear that they wanted more. To this end, the next tour will be in the Spring of 2015 and will take place in the North York Moors National Park.
