In May earlier this year Terry Starkey reported he had "just sold the 198th Starkey Elm burr gearknob to an RV8 enthusiast in Canada so it's very nearly time to make No. 200 which will look very different to the 100th gearknob. He added "we are some way off completing the gearknob but I will send photos of it as soon as it is ready". He will auction it for Macmillan Cancer Support like last time with the 100th gearknob which was successfully auctioned on the V8 website. In response to his suggestion we will be delighted to run the auction of the 200th gearknob.

Terry Starkey mentioned his supplies of burr elm suitable for making his gearknobs were rapidly running out but he has been in touch today to say he is relieved he has managed to acquire enough burr elm (alongside) to make around 300-400 of his replacement elm burr gearknobs! He says "it's really good stuff, too! What a relief as we were down to the last three knobs' worth".

The launch of the auction of the 200th Starkey Elm burr gearknob will be in the next couple of months. Bids will be made online and Terry Starkey will run a thread on the V8 Bulletin Board announcing the launch, reporting the bid values as they come in during the bid period and then finally, as the auction period ends, he will announce details of the successful bid.
