The Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight is a national institution dedicated to maintaining and displaying its collection of aircraft that includes Spitfires, Hurricane, Lancaster and a Dakota. Each summer the Lancaster, often with its escorting Spitfires and Hurricane, visit many events around the country and put on a moving display - for example at the annual Goodwood Revival meeting. The sound of the Merlin engines is a sheer delight as the aircraft circle and pass over spectators.

The latest lecture in the MGB Register series welcomes Warrant Office Kevin Ball, Senior Engineering Officer for the RAF BBMF, who will describe the history and organisation of the Flight, focusing on the work carried out to keep these iconic aircraft flying. He will outline problems that occur operating ageing aircraft in a modern military airworthiness environment and give an insight into the aircraft’s safety
case. Kevin joined the RAF in 1980 and in over 33 years service he has gained a huge amount of experience.

Members of the V8 Register and their friends are cordially invited by the MGB Register's organising team to come and hear Kevin Ball's fascinating stories on Thursday 9th October 2014 at the Amey Theatre at Abingdon School - doors open 7pm for 7.30pm start.
