Busy MG-Triumph Show at Stoneleigh

One of the useful features of the MG Show at Stoneleigh is the opportunity to talk with such a wide range of specialist parts and spares suppliers. This year I visited the Dynamo Regulator and Conversions stand and met the helpful owner Peter to discuss his LED bulbs for upgrading the lighting on MGV8s. The key thing I heard was the LED bulbs are brighter, use less power and come as direct replacements with the correct side pin configurations. The lower power demand of LED bulbs is a useful feature putting a reduced demand on ageing wiring looms in MGV8s. I am preparing a note on LED bulbs which will be released shortly. I also dropped in to talk with MGV8 expert Roger Parker and touched on LED bulbs and he very kindly discussed the vehicle regulations covering their use on classic cars like the MGBGTV8. That will also be included in the note. Victor Smith

The new format for the MG Show at Stoneleigh, combining it with the Triumphs, produced a well attended show witth four halls of exhibitors and many visitors on Sunday 2nd March. Visitors were arriving all morning and some commented the show might usefully run over the two days. The show is always one of the first events in the year which combines an opportunity to meet many MG enthusiasts from the UK and overseas with the fascination of browsing the stalls and seeking out parts and spares. Victor Rodrigues (Swiss-MGV8/IG) was over from Switzerland with a brief from a fellow MG enthusiast in Portugal to find an MG TC aircleaner - and sure enough he found one. Heinz Müller, a Swiss MG service and restoration specialist, had driven over with RV8 enthusiast Eric Pfändler to collect spares at the event.

Many V8 enthusiasts met up at noon at the MG Car Club stand.
