website. More
Finding the Speed Trials is easy; it runs along Madeira Drive with the
start near Brighton Pier. As you drive in from the A23 to the coast and see the
front entrance of the Pier ahead of you, Madeira Drive is on the left (to the
east) and stretches all the way to Black Rock and Brighton Marina.

 Saturday
6th September 2014 | The
Brighton Speed Trials have been saved after a huge publicity campaign. Brighton
Motor Club has announced the event, which dates back to 1905, has been given the
green light by Brighton and Hove City Council after more than 12,000 people signed
a petition in support of the motorsport event. Members of the local authoritys
Economic Development and Culture Committee voted unanimously at a meeting on 23rd
January to allow the meeting to go ahead, quashing previous concerns about the
safety of the event.
The
Brighton Speed Trials is an exhilarating, action-packed day for spectators and
participants alike. Over two hundred cars and motor bikes line up to take a timed
run down Madeira Drive reaching high speeds. There are numerous categories including
road and classic cars, race cars and |
drag
bikes who compete to win the fastest time for the sprint down the Maeria Drive
course in their class. A top six run-off to find the fastest car and bike brings
the day to a dramatic close. An indicative
timetable for the event is set out above. More |
