Gammons has forwarded details of a the
Vintage Aviator Remembrance Day airshow in New Zealand in November 2013 saying
"there are some just superb photos here of WW1 planes. There has been a muted
possibility of them, or at least some, coming to UK/France for the WW1 commemoration
scheduled for August this year. That would certainly be a most evocative sight".
The
originator of the email says "the Vintage Aviator Ltd has 2-3 airshows every
season, at Hood Aerodrome, Masterton in New Zealand. The last one was in November
2013 and featured two new aircraft making their public debuts, an Albatros D.II
(finished in Oswald Boelcke's markings) and TVAL's third Sopwith Snipe (finished
as F2367 "1-2", B flight 70 Sqn, Bickendorf, March-April 1919, which
is one of markings provided by Wingnut Wings in their 'late' version of the Snipe).
The weather was very kind on the day and most of the extensive collection flew
- fantastic experience for a WWI aviation enthusiast, the buzz lasted for days.
A new format for the show allowed an improved walk around photo opportunity."
One
comment from someone seeing the email with the photos was " Fantastic aircraft
all look to be exact replicas with genuine engines, where do they get them from?
Looks like | they
are working their way through every type. With multiples of same type I suspect
there is a film being hatched behind all this as well. They are also doing a great
job at keeping the castor oil business going!" | |
