Section of the A11 between Newmarket and Thetford will be closed this weekend

Many V8 members will be making their way to Snetterton Circuit east of Thetford for the MG Car Club's final two day race meeting of the season. This note is to forewarn you of a serious traffic problem on the A11 which is on the route many members will use to get to Snetterton.

A section of the Fiveways Roundabout (see aerial photo alongside) on the A11 between Newmarket and Thetford is to be closed from 8pm Friday 4th to 6am Monday 7th October for works in connection with the construction of new dual carriageways on the A11. As the A11 is a popular route for many MG enthusiasts making their way to Snetterton from the west via Baldock on the A1 or via the M11, this note is to forewarn you of the closure and to suggest a diversion via Bury St Edmunds and then to Thetford so you can continue to Snetterton on the A11.

The green section of Fiveways Roundabout will be closed this weekend - see alongside.
Ian Quarrington says "the blue route on page 5 of the Highways Agency closure and diversion document takes the most awfully slow road as I know from bitter experience. I still think the best option is to continue east on the A14 to J43 at Bury St Edmunds then take the A143 north to Thetford, picking up the A11 again just west of that town". That route is shown on our diversion guide note. V8 diversion guide note
