Chris Gabriel travelled up from Sussex to Argyll in his RV8 earlier this week and provides a useful petrol price guide for fellow members heading for Aviemore and the European Event of the Year next week. If you are taking the West Coast Route so as to avoid Edinburgh (using the M6 then the A74 and M74) you may like to know there are some alternatives to paying the high motorway service station petrol prices and eating expensive poor food. On Monday 6th August the
average regular unleaded petrol price at the motorway service stations heading North on the M6 was 147.9p per litre. Here Chris shows where you can easily save 11p a litre so that's £1.82 a tank fill.

With the journey from Abingdon to Aviemore of 495 miles, running at 30mpg would see a V8 consume 75 litres of petrol. Saving 11p a litre using the fuel stops recommended by Chris could save you £8.25!
