Rebuild of an MGBGTV8 once owned by Ian Storry
Gordon Mallet (MGBGTV8 Rubber Bumper, ex Bracken 2442) reports "
I have come across Ian Storry's old MGBGTV8 (Tundra 2611) which is currently undergoing restoration at Cuerden Classics in Preston. Until now it was still in its original colour of Tundra, but it is going to be painted white and horror it will be converted to chrome bumpers! It is also to have a larger capacity engine fitted and has had RV8 style cut outs in the inner wings for the manifolds. Why not just do it to a standard BGT than an increasingly rare Factory V8? The mind boggles".

Gordon says "my car will be due for major body restoration soon, either late this year or early next. It is succumbing to the nasty tin worm

unfortunately, but still fast and fun to drive".

Ian Storry is someone many longstanding V8 members will remember as he was an active member in the early years of the V8 Register. Many of our V8 publications, newsletters and the early volumes of workshop notes were typeset, printed and wire spiral bound by his printing company in Preston. That was in the days before the internet became the convenience it is today for circulating and exchanging information in a members' classic car group like ours.
The V8 website was launched in May 2002.

In the early days of the V8 Register we didn't see our V8s as "classic cars" rather as current models of an understated car which was wonderful to drive. 160404
