warranty claims during the production run Some interesting information has been revealed from recently obtained archive material with RV8 warranty claims records. Posted: 210116 These interesting RV8 archive documents were passed to the V8 Register so a review could be carried out. The documents have been released on loan (with the agreement of the General Manager) with an undertaking we will return the documents to Club Office for the Club’s archives once the review has been completed and any necessary copies have been made. The V8 Register, the branch of the Club responsible for covering the RV8 model as part of our formal role within the MG Car Club. That role includes providing “a wide range of benefits and specialist knowledge to our members”. Clearly the responsible Register needs to see documents like this as a fundamental part of its formal role of gathering that specialist knowledge and thereby enable us to “offer technical and historical information for fellow Club members”. |

Warranty
claims during RV8 production Some interesting information has been revealed from recently obtained archive material with RV8 warranty claims records. Whilst the claims documents are still being reviewed what can be seen is that there are warranty claims records for 132 RV8s during the production run. The chart alongside shows the pattern of claims during production and not surprisingly just over 70% of the claims were during the first 20% to 25% of the RV8 production. With 132 warranty claims records that covers 6.6% of the production run. Chart |

Once the current Covid restrictions ease we are planning to meet up with a former member of the RV8 production team at Cowley to discuss the warranty claims records and learn more of both the codes used on the documents regarding the faults that were behind the claims, which issues were behind most of the claims and how the warranty claims procedures worked. They included a Service Action Bulletin issued to all main and retail dealers and three Autocourse New Product Update Bulletins. |

They included a Service Action Bulletin issued to all main and retail dealers and three Autocourse New Product Update Bulletins provided by Rover Group covering a product review, detailed information on the in car entertainment (ICE) system and detailed information on the Engine Management System (EMS). As these documents will be of interest to RV8 enthusiasts, copies of each of those documents have been made and added to the useful information in the "Manuals" folder in the sets of RV8 Workshop Notes supplied to members by the V8 Register. Copies of those four documents are also available to members who have taken up an Updates Subscription to maintain their full set of RV8NOTES. What's in the "Manuals" folder at present?
