Well,
I never knew that!

Abingdon's millionth car - an MGB!
|
The
millionth MG car made at Abingdon was a green with a gold stripe
MGB Roadster. Not really surprising eh?
The Factory donated that 1975 MGB as the Grand Prize in the
Bi-Centennial Rallye put on in the USA by the New England MG
T Register. It was for T series cars only and covered all the
capitals of the original 13 colonies of the US. The total mileage
was about 2,000 miles per car and one car did it in 1,776 miles.
One team driving a TC did it wearing Colonial Soldiers uniforms
and wigs for the entire trip. And one of those was Al Moss founder
of Moss Motors. The winning team from Syracuse NY was Brad Wladis
and George Cookson, they won the rallye and the car.
