Well,
I never knew that!
Keith Belcher has a series of items from the past which capture
the times and the interest people have had in an MGB.

Union Island Grenadines of St Vincent |

When we saw John Watson's Iris Blue MGB on a postage stamp a
few days ago, I think a few of us were surprised. But imagine
my amazement to find this was not the first time our MGB has
been celebrated in philately. The Grenadines of St Vincent in
the Caribbean has been producing its own celebratory stamps
since 1861. In 1983 they produced a nice MG on a $1.50 stamp
- a red 1965 MGB GT! Then I found a 250K stamp with a red MGB
from Malawi; a set of Jersey Motor Festival Classic Cars Stamps
from 2005 with a yellow MGB GT; A blue 25c stamp with MGB Tourer
from Liberia; and a 1963 MGB printed on a 5000 something stamp
from Puntland State of Somalia. I bet there are more. There
is even a history of forgeries! I think I will quit while I
am ahead. |
